As part of National Volunteer Week, Span Arts would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers, many of whom have been isolating alone for the last 10 weeks.
Whilst on lockdown our volunteers have enjoyed getting together weekly for a new online Volunteer Skill Share programme. They have been sharing an incredibly array of skills from gardening to poetry, mindfulness to Welsh. What a talented bunch you are! SPAN Volunteer Nicola told us
“Getting together digitally has been such a boost to my wellbeing and really made the shutdown more bearable. Being engaged with others sharing skills in an online environment was a 1st for me and helped me feel connected to others and less isolated and worried.”
If you are feeling lonely, bored or frustrated or just want to be part of something friendly and creative then why don’t you try one of our Skill Shares. Simply email Siobhan@span-arts-dev.co.uk to find out more.
Create and Connect Film
As part of National Volunteer’s Week, we would like to highlight our amazing volunteers and their contribution to Pembrokeshire’s communities. This film captures just a few of the many Span volunteers as they talk about why they volunteer and what they hope to give and gain by being a Span Volunteer.
Although Span Arts has an established Volunteer Programme, we have been running Create and Connect, our Volunteer Project funded by Enhancing Pembrokeshire since January 2019. Enhancing Pembrokeshire is a fund generated by Pembrokeshire’s Second Home Tax.
The benefits of volunteering are plenty, from learning something new, making new friends and giving something back, it can even make you happier! If you would like to volunteer for Span, please contact Siobhan@span-art.org.uk
Volunteering for Young People: Geraint
For young people, volunteering can be a vital step into the world of work. Span has been lucky to find one young person who has contributed enormously in all thinks digital and, we hope, has himself gained some positive experience.
“ I have thoroughly enjoyed volunteering with Span and I have gained a lot of experience in the field that I am most interested in, computing. I look forward to continuing this path and am excited for future projects.” Geraint
Span Arts is grateful for funding from Pembrokeshires County Council’s Enhanced Pembrokeshire Fund, the second home owners tax, to enable Span to create volunteering opportunities around the county.
